He was just 16, playing video games in his room when the door flew off its hinges. Police stormed the Daniels home in East Baltimore around 3 a.m. shouting, guns raised but they had the wrong address. Moments later, 16 year old Jaylen Daniels lay bleeding on the floor. He never made it to the hospital.
The raid was meant for a suspected drug dealer who lived three doors down. But someone typed the wrong house number on the warrant a typo that cost a child his life.
Now, as the community mourns, the family is being told by authorities to stay quiet while the investigation is ongoing. That hasn’t stopped Jaylen’s mother, who stood outside the courthouse yesterday holding his photo, shouting, My baby didn’t get due process. Why should they?
Another name, another funeral, another so called mistake. And still, no one’s been held accountable.
