Mayor Eric Adams has issued a stern warning to would-be demonstrators after violent scenes in Los Angeles during ICE-related protests.
In a press conference today, Adams reaffirmed New York’s commitment to peaceful protest but emphasized that any form of destruction or assault would be met with swift legal consequences.
“We are not L.A.,” Adams said. “New York City will not tolerate chaos under the banner of protest.”
The NYPD is increasing patrols ahead of planned demonstrations this weekend.
