Protests in Los Angeles over intensified ICE deportation operations have escalated into a standoff between local activists and the federal government. For the third straight night, crowds have blocked major intersections, demanding the release of detained immigrants and an end to the military-style raids.

In response, President Trump ordered the deployment of over 7,000 National Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines into the city, igniting criticism of “military policing of civilians.” California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the move as “a hostile takeover of state rights.”
