A nationwide strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has brought the country’s legal system to a grinding halt. From Supreme Court benches to local magistrate courts, all proceedings have been suspended.
The union is protesting unpaid salaries, lack of financial autonomy, and failure of several states to implement constitutional provisions granting judiciary independence.

The federal government has called an emergency meeting with JUSUN leaders to resolve the deadlock.
