In a rare move, a Missouri judge overruled a jury deadlock and sentenced Lance Shockley to die for the 2005 murder of State Trooper Carl Graham. The jury couldn’t decide but the judge did.
Missouri is one of only two states that allow this. Critics say it’s justice turned upside down. Execution is scheduled for October, but the legal firestorm is far from over.
