Deadly Stampede Rocks India as RCB Fan Celebration Turns Tragic

What began as a joyful celebration for cricket fans in India’s southern city of Bengaluru turned into tragedy, as 11 people were killed and dozens injured in a chaotic stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The event, organized to celebrate the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic win in the IPL 2025 finals, drew tens of thousands of fans. Local authorities now admit they were unprepared for the massive turnout, which quickly became unmanageable.

Eyewitnesses describe scenes of panic and confusion as barriers collapsed and crowds surged forward. “People were climbing over each other, falling down, and screaming. It was terrifying,” said Rakesh Verma, a survivor.

Emergency services were overwhelmed, with ambulances taking over an hour to reach some of the injured. The Karnataka state government has ordered an investigation and announced compensation for the victims’ families.
