Legendary Star Trek actor William Shatner has publicly condemned recent remarks made by Donald Trump about annexing Canada, calling the U.S. president’s comments “insulting” and “tone-deaf.”
In a candid interview on Tuesday with Fox News host Jesse Watters, the 94-year-old Canadian icon did not mince words. Reacting to Trump’s ongoing suggestion that Canada should be part of the United States, Shatner fired back, saying, “At some point, persistence turns into disrespect. Canada isn’t a bargaining chip.”

Shatner, best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, even mocked the idea by suggesting Canada should flip the proposal. “Why not invite the U.S. to become Canada’s 11th province? We’ve got cleaner air, friendly neighbors, renewable energy and let’s not forget manners,” he quipped.
While his tone remained light-hearted, Shatner’s message was clear and firm. “This is not just about jokes or headlines,” he said. “Tens of thousands of Canadians have laid down their lives for freedom. You don’t get to erase that with casual talk.”
The actor’s remarks have sparked fresh conversations online, with many Canadians applauding his patriotism and direct response to Trump’s controversial rhetoric.
As of now, neither Trump nor his representatives have responded to Shatner’s comments.
