FINAL YEAR EKSU STUDENT FAKES OWN KIDNAP TO SPEND TIME WITH BOYFRIEND - POLICE ARREST HER

final-year student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), identified as Helen Kayode

In a shocking twist of events, a final-year student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), identified as Helen Kayode, has been arrested by police for allegedly faking her own kidnapping just to spend time with her boyfriend and enjoy a surprise birthday treat.

According to police reports, Helen had completed her final exams and was expected to return home to her family. However, instead of heading home, she sent a distress message to her sister claiming she had entered a wrong vehicle and had been abducted by unknown men.

The message immediately sparked panic within the family, who raised an alarm and contacted the authorities. Security operatives swiftly launched a search and tracked the situation using her mobile phone signal.

To everyone’s surprise, Helen was not in any danger. She was found safe and sound relaxing at her boyfriend’s apartment, enjoying the weekend with him.

During questioning, she admitted to staging the false abduction so she could spend more time with her boyfriend, who had promised to give her a special birthday surprise. The boyfriend, whose name is yet to be disclosed, is also being investigated for his role in the incident.

Police spokesperson in Ekiti State, ASP Funmi Adebayo, confirmed the arrest and described the act as “irresponsible and criminal.”

Faking a kidnapping is a serious offense. It wastes valuable police time and resources that could have been used to handle real emergencies. Miss Kayode will face the full consequences of her actions,” ASP Adebayo stated.
