Jordan Signs Renewable Water Supply Agreement with Israel

Jordan and Israel have reached a historic agreement to jointly manage renewable desalinated water supplies intended to alleviate chronic water shortages affecting millions of Jordanians.

The bilateral deal includes shared development and operation of desalination plants along the Red Sea coast, emphasizing sustainable and equitable resource management.

Jordanian Water Minister Faisal Al-Khalid described the agreement as “a critical step toward long-term regional water security and cooperation.”

The project aims to deliver fresh water to urban centers and agricultural areas, supporting economic development and reducing dependency on over-extracted groundwater.

Water experts say the partnership could serve as a model for cooperation in a region often marked by water conflicts.
