In a separate but related development, U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed that it has collected DNA samples from over 133,000 migrant youth and uploaded them to national law enforcement databases.
Immigrant rights groups have condemned the practice, calling it invasive and unconstitutional.

“We are turning children into suspects before they’ve done anything wrong,” said immigration attorney Carla Mendez.
The Trump administration defended the move as part of a broader effort to prevent human trafficking and fraud at the border.
