Popular activist and social media figure, Very Dark Man, has called out Punch Newspaper, accusing the prominent media outlet of allowing itself to be used to spread government propaganda.

In a fiery video posted Monday night, Very Dark Man warned the newspaper to immediately halt the publication of what he described as biased and misleading reports that favor the government, or risk losing the trust and credibility it has built over decades.
“Punch, I am telling you directly: stop letting the government use you to spread propaganda,” Very Dark Man said. “You were once the voice of the people, but if you continue like this, you will lose your credibility completely.”
He urged journalists and editors at Punch to remember the critical role the media plays in defending democracy and holding leaders accountable, rather than acting as mouthpieces for those in power.

“When the people no longer trust you, it is over,” he added. “Punch, do the right thing now, because Nigerians are watching. We are no longer sleeping.”
This latest outburst comes amid rising tensions between independent voices and traditional media outlets in Nigeria, as allegations of media bias and government influence continue to spark heated debates nationwide.
Punch Newspaper has yet to issue any official response to Very Dark Man’s accusation as of the time of filing this report.
Observers say the confrontation could trigger broader discussions about press freedom, integrity, and the responsibility of the media in the current political climate.
