“They Have Nothing But Cash” – Trump Slams Saudi Arabia’s Reliance on U.S. for Defense

In a bold and unapologetic remark that reignites global debate on America’s role in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at Saudi Arabia, describing the oil-rich nation as “a country with nothing but cash” that depends entirely on U.S. military support.

Speaking during a private event on foreign policy, Trump emphasized what he calls a “lopsided relationship” between Washington and Riyadh, where America shoulders the burden of defense while Saudi Arabia enjoys the profits of oil

“Saudi Arabia is a rich country, but they’ve got zero military,” Trump said. “We defend them, we subsidize them, and they buy a lot from us. I don’t want to lose them, but we need to stop giving more than we get.”

The remarks echo similar sentiments Trump expressed during his presidency, where he often criticized America’s long-standing military partnerships as being financially one-sided. Saudi Arabia, one of the U.S.’s biggest arms buyers, has relied heavily on American support to maintain security, particularly amid rising tensions with Iran and the conflict in Yemen.

While Trump acknowledged that Saudi Arabia is a major client of U.S. weapons and technology, he stressed that the alliance should be mutually beneficial, not a “one-way deal.

“If we don’t speak up, we’ll keep paying for their safety while they keep counting money,” he added.

The president’s comments come at a time when the U.S. is re-evaluating its military commitments abroad and facing internal political pressure to reduce overseas spending.

So far, there has been no official response from the Saudi royal court.

But one thing is clear: Trump’s message is loud and it’s aimed at a new generation of American voters who are tired of footing the bill for “rich allies with poor priorities.”
