Veteran CBS announcer Jim Nantz was seen wiping away tears in the crowd after Houston's stunning March Madness comeback against Duke on Saturday night.
In the second half of their Final Four matchup with the Blue Devils, the Cougars trailed by as many as 14 points before Cooper Flagg and his freshman teammates staged an incredible comeback in the final two minutes. With the victory, Houston is now getting ready for its first national championship game in over 40 years, against the Florida Gators, who are the last team standing in their way of a historic victory. And after their win on Saturday, an overjoyed Nantz was captured looking emotional at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The former voice of March Madness, who called his final college basketball game in the 2023 Final Four, is a Houston alumnus after playing golf at the school and graduating there in 1981.
Having recently called time on his iconic stint as lead announcer, Nantz was able to soak up his former college's historic victory as a fan in the stands.
