A new federal investigation is now underway after an armed man was shot and killed outside Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of Donald Trump.
According to officials, the suspect managed to breach part of the security perimeter before being confronted by law enforcement officers and members of the United States Secret Service. Authorities say the man was carrying a shotgun and a gasoline container when officers ordered him to drop the weapons.

Instead, investigators say he raised the firearm toward officers. Law enforcement immediately opened fire, killing the suspect at the scene.
Fortunately, officials say no one inside the property was harmed.
FBI Confirms Full Investigation
Shortly after the incident, Kash Patel, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, confirmed that federal agents are dedicating all necessary resources to the case.
In a public statement, Patel said investigators will continue working with the Secret Service and other state and federal partners as they gather more information about what happened.
Authorities are now reviewing security footage, witness accounts, and any possible digital evidence connected to the suspect.
What We Know So Far
Officials say the suspect approached the north gate of the property early in the morning. After crossing into a restricted area, officers moved in quickly.
The rapid response is being credited with preventing what could have become a much more dangerous situation.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been fully released as the investigation continues.

Not the First Security Threat
This incident comes after several previous threats targeting Trump in recent years.
In 2024, a man armed with a rifle was discovered hiding near Trump’s golf course in Florida before being arrested. During another incident at a rally, a gunman fired shots that left Trump injured in the ear and others wounded.
Because of these past incidents, security around Trump properties has remained extremely tight.
What Happens Next
Federal investigators are now trying to determine:
• Whether the suspect acted alone
• What his motive may have been
• If there were any warning signs before the incident
Officials say updates will be released as more details become available.
For now, the situation appears contained, but the investigation remains active.
