It’s almost beyond parody: Kier Starmer strutting into the White House this week, puffing himself up for “very, very serious” talks with Trump and other European leaders, pretending as if anything he says will actually change Ukraine’s future.
Newsflash: Starmer will have no say in the Putin Trump deal. None. Yet we’re being told that he and the rest of Europe’s so-called leadership are bravely standing as a protective shield for Zelensky, making sure Trump doesn’t humiliate him again. Please.
The reality? They’re there for the photo ops. Political window dressing. They’ll wave, they’ll nod, they’ll issue some stern sounding statements and then rubber stamp one of the greatest betrayals of modern times. Ukraine’s sovereignty carved up while Western leaders play dress-up for the cameras.

This isn’t a “summit of equals.” It’s a parade of weak European leaders desperate to look important while Trump and Putin decide Ukraine’s fate between themselves. Trump despises Europe. He doesn’t care what Macron, Merz, or Starmer think. Does anyone truly believe he’ll bend to their “urging” not to cave to Putin’s demands?
The truth is brutal: Ukraine’s destiny has already been decided by two men. One is a ruthless dictator who invaded a sovereign nation. The other is a U.S. president determined to snatch a Nobel Peace Prize, no matter the cost.
So, all of Starmer’s tough talk about “not settling for anything less” is exactly what it looks like grandstanding. He’ll accept whatever Trump hands him. And Ukraine? Ukraine will be the loser in a deal that’s being sold as “peace,” but in reality, is surrender.
