A terrifying scene unfolded near Cross Keys Airport in Monroe Township, New Jersey, on Wednesday evening after a small skydiving plane crashed, leaving multiple people injured and the community in shock.
According to emergency responders, the aircraft, which was believed to be carrying 14 to 15 people, went down just after 5:30 p.m., prompting what officials called a “mass casualty incident.”Emergency crews from across Gloucester County rushed to the scene, working to rescue and stabilize victims.
At least five people were transported to Cooper University Hospital with injuries. The extent of their conditions remains unknown, but footage from the crash site showed several victims being carried out on stretchers as smoke rose from the wreckage.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the crash, with early questions focusing on whether the plane suffered a mechanical failure or lost control during flight. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to release more information as the investigation unfolds.
