We Thought It Was for Freedom But It Was All About Power - Says Former French Army Chief

He led thousands of troops, served his country with loyalty, and believed in the mission until he saw what was really happening behind the scenes.

General Pierre de Villiers, the former Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, has finally said what many soldiers whisper behind closed doors: “We all fought side by side thinking we were fighting for freedom. But in the end, I realized it was all about the elites—taking the land, the oil, the diamonds, and controlling the minds of the people. May God forgive all we’ve done.”

De Villiers, a respected military leader, stepped down in 2017 after clashing with President Macron over defense budgets and decisions that, in his view, compromised the integrity of France’s military. But now, he’s going even further hinting that the wars European nations join may not be as righteous as they seem.

Behind the uniform, behind the medals, and behind the salute, there lies a brutal truth: wars are often fought not for freedom or peace but for profit, power, and control.

As conflict spreads across the globe again, his message is a powerful reminder that not all battles are what they appear to be and sometimes, the true enemies are not the ones we’re told to fight.
