Three Siblings Killed in Israeli Airstrike on Family Home in Northern Gaza

A devastating Israeli airstrike struck a family home in Jabalia al-Balad, northern Gaza, on Sunday, killing three young siblings and further intensifying grief in the war-ravaged enclave.

The victims Reema, Rahaf, and Suhaib Abdelrahman Hamdiya were inside their home in the Al-Bursh residential area when it was hit by an airstrike that reduced the building to rubble. Eyewitnesses say the blast came without warning, catching the family off guard as night fell over the densely populated neighborhood.

Local civil defense teams rushed to the scene, working through the debris in a desperate attempt to rescue any survivors. But for the Hamdiya children, it was too late.

“The children were just playing minutes before,” said a neighbor, Ahmed Abu Safiya, with tears in his eyes. “Now their laughter is gone, replaced by silence and dust.”

The Israeli military has not released a statement about the specific strike but said in a broader comment that it was continuing “targeted operations against terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.”

Palestinian health officials report that the death toll in northern Gaza continues to rise sharply amid ongoing air raids, with children making up a significant portion of the casualties. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 14,000 children have been killed since the conflict escalated in late 2023.

Grief-stricken relatives gathered at the site, mourning the loss of yet another generation lost to war. The siblings’ father, Abdelrahman Hamdiya, was seen sobbing uncontrollably as the lifeless bodies of his children were carried out for burial.

International humanitarian organizations continue to call for an immediate ceasefire and unfettered access to aid, warning of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe. But so far, diplomatic efforts have yielded little progress.

As the world watches, the deaths of Reema, Rahaf, and Suhaib stand as a tragic reminder of the war’s human toll where no child is truly safe, and no home is too sacred to escape the bombs.
