Nigeria’s Advertising Regulatory Council (ARCON) has launched an investigation into one of the country’s leading telecommunications companies over an alleged $2 million advertising debt owed to local media and marketing firms.
ARCON officials confirmed the probe was triggered by formal complaints from three top agencies claiming that payments for nationwide campaigns from 2023 remain outstanding.

The telecom company, whose identity is currently being withheld pending legal review, could face suspension of ad licenses and other regulatory penalties if found guilty.
Industry stakeholders have hailed the move, calling it a wake-up call for transparency and accountability in corporate Nigeria.
