South Korea has a new president. Following a snap election triggered by the resignation of Yoon Suk Yeol, voters elected Lee Jae-myung, a progressive reformist known for championing basic income and anti-corruption laws.
The victory marks a sharp political shift, with Lee promising to rein in corporate monopolies, stabilize housing, and ease tensions with North Korea.
In his victory speech, Lee said: “This is not my win it’s a win for every Korean tired of being ignored.”
Lee faces high expectations and deep political divisions, but his fresh mandate gives hope to a generation demanding real change.
