The city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, is reeling after suffering what officials are calling the most devastating Russian attack since the war began. A coordinated barrage of missiles and drones struck residential areas and infrastructure, killing at least four civilians and injuring dozens more.
Emergency responders rushed to contain fires and pull survivors from the rubble as Ukrainian officials denounced the strikes as “acts of terror.” The assault comes just days after peace negotiations in Istanbul collapsed over a stalled prisoner exchange agreement.
Ukrainian forces responded by downing a Russian Su-35 fighter jet and launching strikes against Russian air bases. As both sides harden their positions, the prospect of de-escalation seems increasingly remote.
“This war is no longer just about land it’s about survival,” one Ukrainian soldier said from the front lines.
