A 14-year-old Black teenager, Michael Torres, was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer who claimed he believed the boy matched the description of a suspect.
But new video shows Michael was walking home from the store with snacks and headphones. The officer never identified himself. His family is devastated. “He was a child. He had no weapon. No threat,” Michael’s mother cried at a vigil.
Civil rights groups are demanding the officer be charged with murder, while city officials face growing protests. Many are comparing it to past cases that sparked national outrage, saying, “How many more?”
