In a bold and decisive move, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, aiming to address ongoing political instability and security challenges that have rocked the region. This announcement came after months of tension and unrest that threatened the peace and governance in one of Nigeria’s most populous states.
Following the declaration, the president suspended the governor, deputy governor, and members of the state’s House of Assembly. To oversee the administration during this emergency period, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas was appointed as the interim administrator.
