Netanyahu Slams UK, French, and Canadian Leaders Over Gaza Criticism, Accuses Them of Siding with Hamas

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a sharp rebuke at leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada, accusing them of “siding with Hamas” in response to their growing criticism of Israel’s military operations in Gaza.

In a fiery statement released late Thursday evening, Netanyahu said the recent condemnation from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, President Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeaureflects a “dangerous moral failure” and a misunderstanding of the “terrorist threat that Hamas poses not just to Israel but to global peace.”

“The governments of London, Paris, and Ottawa are condemning Israel for defending itself,” Netanyahu said. “Their statements embolden Hamas, a recognized terrorist organization, and betray the values of democracy and justice they claim to uphold.”

The remarks come amid rising international concern over the humanitarian toll in Gaza, with mounting civilian casualties drawing sharp rebuke from human rights organizations and world leaders. Several Western governments, including the UK, France, and Canada, have urged Israel to scale down its offensive, calling for immediate humanitarian access and a path to a ceasefire.

Netanyahu, however, insists that the offensive is a legitimate response to ongoing rocket attacks and cross-border incursions by Hamas militants. “We will not be lectured by those who refuse to confront terrorism at home but seek to restrict our right to self-defense,” he added.

The accusations have already triggered diplomatic ripples, with Canadian and French foreign ministries issuing statements reaffirming their support for Israel’s right to security, while emphasizing their deep concern for civilian lives in Gaza.

As tensions continue to escalate, the backlash from Israel’s closest Western allies signals a growing divide over how to address the crisis raising fears of further isolation for the Netanyahu government on the global stage.
