As the 2026 midterm elections draw near and Donald Trump continues to dominate conservative politics, new revelations suggest the former president is quietly leveraging America’s global influence to expand his personal empire politically, financially, and diplomatically while much of the country remains distracted or unaware.
From international business deals to private diplomacy with foreign leaders, Trump’s post-presidency activities are raising red flags among ethics watchdogs and foreign policy experts who say the former commander-in-chief is blurring the lines between national power and personal gain.
Shadow Diplomacy and Foreign Alliances
Sources close to the State Department report that Trump has maintained regular, undocumented communication with foreign leaders, including those in Saudi Arabia, Hungary, and Russia. These backchannel conversations, some of which allegedly involve policy suggestions, have not been coordinated with the current administration.
“Trump is running a shadow government in plain sight,” said a former national security advisor. “He’s using his influence and name to strike personal deals and build loyalty abroad, often undermining U.S. interests.”

Just last month, Trump was seen meeting with high-level officials in the UAE under the guise of a “business forum,” but insiders claim the discussions also included defense contracts and future oil investment plans tied to Trump-affiliated companies.
A Financial Empire Built on Political Clout
While continuing to claim that he is a victim of political persecution at home, Trump’s international business network has been quietly expanding. Trump branded luxury properties have been announced or rebranded in Istanbul, Manila, and Cape Town cities where U.S. foreign aid and diplomatic ties remain strategically important.
“These are not just real estate projects,” said Maya Ellison, an ethics researcher at the Center for Global Governance. “They are symbols of power projection, where Trump uses the prestige of his former office to attract investors, secure land deals, and signal political allegiance.”
A Sleeping Giant: America’s Silence
Perhaps the most alarming aspect, according to experts, is the silence or complacency within key U.S. institutions. With Congress locked in partisan gridlock and the public fatigued by years of political chaos, Trump’s expanding global web is largely going unchecked.
“The country is asleep at the wheel,” warned Ellison. “While Americans are busy debating over domestic issues, Trump is planting flags around the world flags that don’t represent the United States, but himself.”

As Trump teases another presidential run and deepens ties abroad, critics argue the U.S. needs stronger enforcement of post-office ethics laws and more transparency in former presidents’ foreign dealings.
“Trump isn’t just preparing for a campaign,” said political analyst Jermaine Walker. “He’s building an empire with America’s name, reputation, and power and too many are pretending not to notice.”
If these patterns continue, observers warn, the lines between America’s influence and Trump’s personal ambitions may blur beyond repair.
More investigations are underway. Stay tuned for further updates.
