Duterte Wins Mayoral Election in Davao City While Detained at The Hague

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been elected mayor of Davao City while detained at The Hague, awaiting trial for alleged crimes against humanity. Duterte secured a significant majority, highlighting his enduring political influence in his hometown.

The Commission on Elections stated that Duterte could still be proclaimed as mayor in absentia, even while in detention.
