Elon Musk took a rare swipe at one of President Donald Trump's closest advisors amid the fallout from the White House's tariff plan.
The world's richest man waded into controversy on Friday when markets closed and White House advisor Peter Navarro appeared on CNN to try and calm concerns over the damage the tariffs had caused in the last two days.
The market's reaction to the tariffs cost Musk billions of dollars, and the US stock market had its worst week of trading in five years. Additionally, Musk mocked the economic advisor on his X platform following Navarro's assertion that the tariffs would eventually pay for themselves.
A post that mentioned that Navarro holds a PhD in economics from Harvard received a response from Musk, who stated, "A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing." "Leaves the ego/brains with more than one problem." Musk said,
"He ain't built s***," in response to a user's comment that Navarro was "correct." Musk's brazen break with Trump's inner circle comes just days after it was made public that he would be leaving the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) early in a baffling move.
